» PROJECT BRIEF: We were tasked to pick hand in hand a font and its designer; from there, we were instructed to research the font - using various information such as types the font has, what their uses are, an in-depth history - and create a type specimen book based on the font itself. I chose Futura, by Paul Renner.
Case Study: A Look Into the Futura

FUTURA:

Futura, established in 1927, is a Bauhaus inspired font by Paul Renner. There are over 102 different styles of this font, since 2020
When it came to the type specimen book, I really wanted to stick to the Bauhaus theme of the art during the time period in which Futura had been established. This included a lot of geometric central designs. Given the nature of the assignment - only allowing one true color -, I went with neutral color tone
Futura, which had begun being sketched in 1924 and was promptly released in 1927, was deemed the "fully developed prototype of the century Geometric Sans-serif."
